Here is a comprehensive guide and spreadsheet layout for standard UK poster sizes.
In the UK, the standard print bleed is 3mm on all sides (which adds a total of 6mm to both the width and height of the overall design file). The pixel dimensions below are calculated at 300 DPI (Dots Per Inch), which is the professional standard for high-quality printing.

Important Designing Tips for UK Printing:
- What is Bleed? Bleed is the area on the outer edge of your design that gets cut off during the printing process. Extending your background colors/images into this 3mm bleed area ensures you don't get ugly white lines on the edges of your finished poster.
- The Safe Zone: Keep all important text, logos, and critical design elements at least 5mm inside the Trim Size (not the bleed size). This ensures no important information is accidentally trimmed off.
- Color Space: Always design your posters in CMYK color mode, not RGB. RGB is for screens, and CMYK is for physical printers.
- DPI for Large Format (A0 and 6-Sheet): While 300 DPI is the standard, for massive posters like A0 and 6-Sheets that are viewed from a distance, you can drop your DPI to 150 DPI or 200 DPI to reduce file sizes without noticeable quality loss.
